Steel fittings

There are different applications in the Oil & Gas sector which require metallic and non-metallic fittings. The fundamental norms which regulate the production of but weld steel fittings on a worldwide level are the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers – www.asme.org) norms. VIRGILIO CENA & FIGLI S.p.a. produces its own fittings according to the ASME B16.9 (Factory-Made Wrought Steel Butt welding Fittings) which normalises the production of butt weld steel fittings as well as MSS SP75, a norm with superior mechanical requirements.

Besides the American norms, there are the European norms: the principal norm for the production of butt weld steel fittings is the EN 10253-2 which is the result of extenuating work on behalf of the European normalising entities who reassumed and re-elaborated the fitting production norms of the principal European countries in a unique reference and which is also recognised world wide. The production of butt weld steel fittings must take into consideration the international norms of reference and must also answer to the specific requirements of each project and the multinational oil and gas companies. VIRGILIO CENA & FIGLI S.p.a. tries in fact to satisfy its clients by producing and supplying fittings according to the required project and environmental parameters. The EPC and end users’ requirements have pushed VIRGILIO CENA & FIGLI S.p.a. to develop a production policy of butt weld steel fittings which is more flexible and detached from series production.
